Info: Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder, Commissioner of Civil Marriages, Donna Linder, and her staff invite engaged couples to join them as they perform marriage ceremonies on Valentine’s Day at the historic McHenry Mansion. All ceremonies are individualized. Couples must sign up in advance. Marriage licenses must be purchased and appointments made in advance at the Clerk Recorder’s Office located at 1021 I St., Modesto. Cost of the license and ceremony is $121 or $126 for confidential marriage licenses. What: Income Tax Preparation Assistance
When: Starting Thursday, Feb. 6, 4-7:30 p.m.
Where: Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave.
Info: Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will be offered through the last week in March at various Stanislaus County libraries. Volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide tax preparation assistance. Interested parties are encouraged to make an appointment, walk-ins may be helped if time permits. Taxpayers must bring ID and social security cards for each person who will be on their tax return and the prior year’s tax return, if available. Info: Program: “All About Tomatoes!” The speaker for the club’s February meeting is Scott Reed, a San Joaquin Master Gardener. Reed has more than 30 years of experience with tomatoes and has planted up to 23 different varieties in his garden. He currently plants his favorites and tries one or two new plants each year.
