What: Veterans Foundation New Years Eve Celebration

Info: The Veterans Foundation of Stanislaus County invites current and/or retired services members and the community to its New Years Celebration, “Midnight Kisses”. Doors open at 5 p.m. with an open bar; 6 p.m. dinner, catered by chef Jack Griffith, and then at 7:30 p.m. dancing. Live music will be provided by the California Outlaws Band. What: Celebrating Jane Austen

Info: The Stanislaus County Library, Modesto Branch along with the Friends of the Modesto Library will host an event in remembrance of author Jane Austen, “All Things Jane.” The event will include a discussion of Jane Austen’s works and a special preview of Opera Modesto’s Story Into Song January production of “Mansfield Park.” The event is free, but space is limited.
