100 YEARS AGO: The Red Cross of Modesto placed an ad asking for donations of old and/or gently used clothing for its shop. They noted that there was an uptick in residents going to the store and having to be turned away for a lack of winter clothing. The Red Cross Store event offered to pick up the clothing from resident homes. They asked the public to call with their name and address to numbers 878 or 725.
