What: McHenry Mansion Candlelight Tours
When: Friday and Sunday, 5:30 p.m.
Where: McHenry Mansion, 906 15th St.
Info: The McHenry Mansion will be holding two opportunities to tour the mansion at night, either with a candle or with a gaslight. It is a self-guided walk-through of the Victorian home in 19th Century Christmas decor. Period activities will be demonstrated, along with live music and desert served in the basement. What: Ballet classes for children on the Autism Spectrum

Info: Children ages 6-12 will learn to explore dance and movement while making friends in a fun, non-judgmental environment. Classes are taught by a certified instructor; learning group size will be four students to one “buddy” dancer with a limited number of groups. Ages 6-8 meet 9:45-10:15 a.m. and ages 9-12 meet 9-9:45 a.m. Registration is $30 and classes are $30 month; open policy, come and go as you need. What: Strength Training Class for Older Adults

Info: The Healthy Aging and Association will offer free strength training classes for older adults, ages 60 and over. The Young at Heart Strength Training classes work on strength, balance and flexibility to help reduce the risk of falling and to help participants maintain their independence. Info: The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program is a collaborative effort between the Friends of the California State Fair, the California Exposition and State Fair, the California State Fair Agricultural Advisory Council, the Ironstone Concours Foundation, Blue Diamond Growers and Western Fairs Association. This program seeks to motivate California's well-rounded students by awarding scholarships to a diverse set of backgrounds and majors. 50 YEARS AGO: It was reported that the Salvation Army, Modesto Corps, had collected between 15,000 and 18,000 donated cans of food. The majority of the donations came from high school students at Modesto and Downey. Students in two classes taught by Panther teacher Bruce Urban collected more than 10,000 cans of food.
