Amazon looks to fill 700 positions in Tracy

As the result of newly completed construction that increases capacity at its 1.1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Tracy, Amazon is hiring for more than 700 full-time hourly positions there to meet growing customer demand. The announcement came Thursday from the city and the online retailer.

No similar facility expansion or hiring is occurring at the Internet retailer’s 1 million-square-foot Patterson facility, a company spokeswoman said.

“We’re not hiring nearly at the same level there,” said Ashley Robinson. “That said, we’re always hiring.”

She suggested interested applicants go to www.workatamazonfulfillment.com. A check Thursday afternoon of “current openings” on the website showed no jobs available in Patterson.

The new positions in Tracy are in addition to the 100 full-time jobs Amazon announced at the facility in March.

Full-time employees at Amazon receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, 401(k) and company stock awards starting on day one, according to the news release from Tracy.

“Amazon also offers regular full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice,” the release says, “where it will prepay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.”
