Photos sought for Modesto history project

The Modesto Bee is working on a history project, and we need your help.

The Bee is planning to publish “Modesto Memories: The Early Years” in time for holiday gift-giving. The coffee-table book is a joint effort with the McHenry Museum and the Stanislaus County Library.

“Modesto Memories: The Early Years” will detail the history of Modesto and surrounding cities from the late 1800s to 1939.

But we also want photographs from our readers to include in the publication. If you have personal historical photos you would like to share, you’re invited to one of three public scanning sessions. They will be:

▪ June 20, noon to 3 p.m

▪ June 23, 1 to 4 p.m.

▪ June 24, noon to 3 p.m.

All of the sessions will be at the McHenry Museum, 1402 I St., Modesto. Photos will be scanned by Pediment Publishing, which is helping to produce the book.
