Two people riding a small motorcycle that is not legal on streets were hurt when they ran a stop sign and struck a car Monday night, Modesto police reported.
The collision occurred a little after 10:30 p.m. A man and woman on a 50cc cycle ran the stop sign on Helen Avenue and hit a car traveling on Sunrise Avenue. It has not been determined which person was driving the bike and which was the passenger, Lt. Jason Grogan said, and neither was wearing a helmet.
The woman suffered major, possibly life-threatening injuries, Grogan said, while the man’s injuries were moderate. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. There was no word on their conditions, and their names and ages were unavailable.
The car’s driver was uninjured, Grogan said. The MPD traffic unit investigated the collision.
