Fire displaces eight people from two apartments in north Ceres

A fire Wednesday displaced eight people from adjoining apartments off Richland Avenue, the Ceres Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported in the fire, called in at about 5:30 p.m. at the Pine Ridge Apartments, a large complex just north of Hatch Road.

The cause is under investigation, Ceres Fire Chief Kevin Wise said at the scene. The American Red Cross was aiding the six adults and two children who were displaced, he said.

The fire happened near the west end of the complex, made up of numerous two-story buildings. Dozens of residents watched as emergency crews worked the scene.

Ceres had help from the Modesto Fire Department and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District.
