Claws, webbed feet and paper towels? Why this Hughson baby shower isn’t so typical
Everyone is invited to a baby shower on Saturday, but the requests aren’t the typical diapers, onesies and pacifiers.
These babies have claws and webbed feet and wings, so their needs are a little more unconventional. Think 13-gallon trash bags, and paper towels and dish washing gloves. Also, unused real fur coats (for bedding).
The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center is holding its annual Baby Animal Shower, which takes place each spring as the baby population grows. The event is free, though donations are encouraged, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fox Grove Regional Park, 1220 Geer Road in Hughson.
The event will include barbequed tri-tip sandwiches, ice cream sundaes, cookies, raffle prizes, face painting, kid’s activities and animal presentations. Representatives from the Stanislaus County Library will be there for storytelling as well.
The care center takes in more than 2,200 animals every year and is completely donation-funded.
