Info: Parents of children with special educational needs are invited to attend “Parents as Advocates: What you Need to Know about the IEP Process and the Law.” Presented in part by LearningQuest – Stanislaus Literacy Centers and the SLD Foundation, the program is intended to inform parents of the legal aspects of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, and help them advocate for their child's educational needs. What: Life After the Diagnosis Lecture

Info: Dr. Steven Pantilat will discuss the importance of palliative care and how to live well with a serious illness. This event is designed to educate community residents and healthcare professionals on end-of-life issues. Continuing education units are available for RN/LVN/CNA/HHA/SW. What: Modesto Pollinator Festival

Info: The first Modesto Pollinator Festival will be held at the La Loma Native Garden. A children’s costume parade will begin at noon, followed by a mural unveiling by artist Bianca Barrett in the children’s garden, guest speaker Glen Schneider, who does habitat restoration work, and many activities for children. What: Lamplight Dinner fundraiser

Info: The Tuolumne County Historical Society invites the public to its 63rd annual Lamplight Dinner. The event will include a re-enactment of Charles Goelz, owner of Sonora Garage, and his 1910 horseless carriage. 25 YEARS AGO: It was reported that the Turlock High School District was accepting submissions of names for the district’s proposed second high school. The district recieved thirty-nine that included Blossom Valley High, Monte Vista High, Harmony High, John H. Pitman High and Joe Debely High. The unamed high school was expected to open in 1999 on the north side of Turlock.
