Info: The 18th annual Cesar E. Chavez “Si Se Puede” Empowerment Luncheon. California Senator (D-12) Anna Caballero will speak about Cesar Chavez’s legacy and comment on current issues facing the valley. Info: The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project (CEP) invites the community to a screening of the documentary film “RBG” in Forum 110 on East Campus. The free event is part of the CEP Spring Film and Lecture Series. Campus parking is available for $2 in student parking lots. Attendance at CEP events is limited, so arriving a little early is encouraged. The film is followed by a discussion. What: Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration

Info: Modesto Junior College invites the community the 25th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration with keynote speaker Michael Eric Dyson, renowned author, preacher, radio host and professor of sociology at Georgetown University. Dyson’s presentation is entitled, "Dr. King for the 21st Century.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and program begins at 7 p.m. The program celebrates the life and legacy of King and it is open to the public and admission is free. Students of all ages are invited to participate in a discussion with Dyson at 4 p.m. on March 30 in the King-Kennedy Memorial Center. 40 YEARS AGO: It was reported that Stanislaus County farmers grossed a record income of $533 million, an increase of 10 percents overall from 1977. The growth for 1978 was attributed to higher values being assesed to livestock, walnuts and almonds.
