What: US Too Prostate Cancer Support Group

When: Monday, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Sutter Memorial Conference Center, 1700 McHenry Ave., Suite 60B

Info: Program features Tai Chi instructor Anne Robinson. She works mainly with older adults and those with significant health problems. Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. Both are known to be important to wellness. Come in comfortable clothes, prepared to join in a “meditation in motion” experience. Newcomers are welcome. The program ends with snacks and socializing. What: Opioid Safety Awareness Summit

Where: Modesto Centre Plaza, 1000 L St.

Info: The Stanislaus County Opioid Safety Coalition will be hosting the Opioid Safety Awareness Summit. The goal of the summit is to increase awareness of the dangers of prescription opioid misuse and abuse. More than 500 stakeholders are expected to attend the daylong summit, entitled “Striving for Community Wellness,” which will feature local, state, and national experts, policy makers, advocates, clinicians and families. What: Latino Community Roundtable Luncheon

When: Thursday, March 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: The Red Event Center, 921 Eighth St.

Info: The 18th annual Cesar E. Chavez “Si Se Puede” Empowerment Luncheon. Keynote speaker, California Senator (D-12) Anna Caballero will speak about Cesar Chavez’s legacy and comment on current issues facing the valley. Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer session. Mexican buffet served. Cost is $30. Tickets and table reservations are available along with other sponsorships. What: Screening: “RBG”

Where: Modesto JC - East Campus, 435 College Ave.

Info: The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project (CEP) invites the community to a screening of the documentary film “RBG” in Forum 110 on East Campus. The free event is part of the CEP Spring Film and Lecture Series. Campus parking is available for $2 in student parking lots. Attendance at CEP events is limited, so arriving a little early is encouraged. The film is followed by a discussion. What: Knights Ferry Community Club Spaghetti Dinner

Where: Knights Ferry Community Club, Main Street

Info: The Knights Ferry Community Club will be hosting its annual spaghetti dinner during the Civil War Re-enactments on the weekend of March 23 and 24. The funds raised at this event will help with the cost of the club’s building insurance, utilities, and basic expenses. The dinner includes, dessert and beverage. 100 YEARS AGO: The Modesto High School student body worked to beautify the campus and install new athletic equipment. The high school’s male student body pulled weeds around the campus and by the direction of Athletic Director Morris, were also to erect two basketball hoops for the girls physical training classes. Work was also done for the then new track and feild areas, with competition set for the following week with Ripon and Oakdale high schools.
