6-year-old Salida boy dies after being found in tub

Detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy Sunday night in Salida.

At about 7:30 p.m., emergency medical personnel responded to a call in the 7100 block of Kiernan Avenue, said Deputy Anthony Bejaran, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department. The boy was found unconscious while taking a bath, Bejaran said, and was taken to the emergency room of a hospital, where he died.

Detectives were called to “ensure there were no suspicious circumstances in the death of the child,” Bejaran said. Additional information will not be available until the Coroner’s Office completes an autopsy report, he said.
