Success & Service: University Women sending kids to tech camp
The Turlock/Modesto American Association of University Women is providing scholarships for five elementary school girls to attend the Tech Trek camp in June at California State University, Fresno.
The camp, started in 1998, instructs in science, technology, engineering and math. Fresno is one of eight California colleges/universities hosting, and 10 other states now stage Tech Trek camps.
The girls selected by the Turlock/Modesto AAUW are Layla Patel of Prescott Junior High, Athena Adamakis of Savage Middle School, Emily Jimenez of Spratling Middle School, and Tessa Van Natta and Michelle Tipton, both from Salida Middle School.
