Info: The Sons in Retirement, Branch 103, monthly luncheon will feature guest speaker Cathy Mendoza, executive director of The First Tee of Central Valley, who will speak about The First Tee program. Sons in Retirement is an organization of retired men who join together to avoid the boredom of retirement. What: SENIOR NUTRITION COUPON DISTRIBUTION

When: Thursday, 8 to 10 a.m.

Where: Modesto Certified Farmers Market, 16th Street between H and I streets

Info: The Area Agency on Aging has received the Senior Farmers Market coupon booklets and will be distributing them to seniors 60 and older who live in Stanislaus County and have a limited income ($1,800 per month or less for individuals, or $2,426 per month for households of two). One booklet per eligible senior per year. Coupon booklets contain $20 in coupons for use like cash at certified farmers markets to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey or edible herbs. What: CHILD SAFETY SEAT CHECK EVENT

When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon

Where: Los Amigos Tire, 1700 Crows Landing Road

Info: Parents and families can come get their child safety seats inspected for safety and learn about child safety seat information. Event co-sponsored by Los Amigos Tire Pros, CHP, Latino Community Roundtable, Congregations Building Communities, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, Modesto Police Department, Health Plan of San Joaquin, Wal-Mart, Rank Investigations and Security, and The Stanislaus-Tuolumne Central Labor Council. Info: The Independent Districting Advisory Committee is hosting a community meeting to get the public’s ideas in the creation of six City Council election districts. Those attending will hear about the districting process and how they can help by drawing their own maps. They also will be asked to help define their neighborhoods.
