Pray Modesto breakfast coming June 4

Tickets are available for the third annual Pray Modesto prayer breakfast, to be held June 4.

The event at Big Valley Grace Community Church worship center “will focus on prayer and blessing seven spheres of influence in our community: family/health, citywide church/ministries, education, business, government, media, and arts/entertainment/sports,” organizers said in a news release Monday.

In June 2012, local churches, ministries and organizations launched the Pray Modesto project to ensure the city was the focus of daily prayer. More than 70 Christian churches, ministries and organizations have each prayed for the city for one week, then passed the “prayer baton” on to the next group.

“Prayer is a vital part of being actively involved in our community,” said the Rev. Cheryl Birch of Cheryl Birch Ministries and a Pray Modesto committee member. “We believe united prayer positively impacts our community. As we intercede, our Father in heaven answers our requests. We are seeking stronger family units, more cooperation in every sphere, safer environments and increased peace and prosperity in our beloved city.”

The prayer breakfast will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the church, 4040 Tully Road. Doors open at 6:45. Tickets are $10. For information on purchasing seats or sponsoring a table, call (209) 324-9447 or email praymodesto@att.net.
