Firefighters fill their boots for Muscular Dystrophy
Firefighters from the Modesto Fire Department hit the streets with their boots off their feet on Saturday in an annual fundraiser. Firefighters took up spots at the intersection of Pelandale Avenue and Sisk Road in north Modesto from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The effort dates back to 1953, when firefighters in Boston raised $5,000. Last year, the event - set in more than 2,500 locations - brought in nearly $24 million.
