Info: The Northern San Joaquin Valley Chapter of Team in Training is holding an informational meeting and registration opportunity for those interested in training for marathons, half marathons and triathlons to be held in the fall. What: SIERRA CLUB PROGRAM

Where: Tuolumne Utilities District boardroom, 18885 Nugget Blvd.
Info: The Sierra Club program will feature Roger Putnam, who will speak about the geology of El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. His talk will cover the current research regarding the formation of rock El Capitan is made of and how that rock is continually eroding to produce its iconic shape. All community members are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

YESTERYEARS
100 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Theater, after being closed for upgrades, opened to the public for entertainment. On the second day’s schedule, the theater reintroduced its vaudeville program with “Kame Kichi Japs,” acrobats and contortionists; “Mudge Morton Trio,” a musical novelty group; and “Cleveland and Trelease,” singing and talking artists.
