What: SENIOR AWARENESS DAY
When: Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Modesto branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St.
Info: The Stanislaus County Library, in partnership with the Stanislaus County Area Agency on Aging, will host Senior Awareness Day. The event will provide an opportunity for seniors to learn about free resources available in their community. Representatives from CalFresh, Catholic Charities, HICAP and other agencies will be available to answer questions and help community members enroll in assistance programs. Those interested in applying for these programs will need to bring a photo ID. There will be a free prize drawing and light refreshments will be provided. What: COMPUTER USERS GROUP WORKSHOP
When: Thursday, 6 p.m.
Where: Denny’s Restaurant, 1525 McHenry Ave.

What: VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
When: June 3, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Where: Healthy Aging Association, 121 Downey Ave.
Info: The Healthy Aging Association is holding a volunteer orientation for responsible individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of older adults. Young at Heart Fitness instructors are needed to lead exercise classes. No experience needed. Free training certificate is available. Other volunteer opportunities also available. YESTERYEARS
75 YEARS AGO: Modesto angler Ed L. Roberts struck his limit in striped bass in the Middle River. His limit included fish weighing 9 to 23 pounds. Roberts caught the fish by trolling with a redhead plug.
