Free chest compression-only CPR classes held at Modesto fire stations
The Modesto Fire Department and American Medical Response are partnering to provide free training on Wednesday in chest compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Survival from sudden cardiac arrest can be doubled or tripled if CPR is administered until emergency medical services arrive, according to a press release from the Modesto Fire Department.
Other studies by the American Heart Association also suggest that compression-only CPR is as effective as traditional CPR that uses breathing techniques. The study also found that people are much more willing to perform compression-only CPR on a stranger.
The classes will be held at three Modesto fire station from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
· Station 5, 200 W. Briggsmore Ave.
· Station 6, 2700 Standiford Ave.
· Station 10, 148 Imperial Ave.
