YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that non-teaching employees of Modesto City Schools were seeking a 12.1 percent cost-of-living pay raise for the 1975-76 school year, with a 3 percent increase every 3 months if the inflation spiral continued. The employees sent a six-page package to the Board of Education; they also sought an extra “floating” holiday, increased vacation time and $400 each to use for fringe benefits.
