4.0 earthquake reported in Merced County
A magnitude 4.0 earthquake shook a rural area of Merced County on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake was reported about 11:36 a.m. about 25 miles southwest of South Dos Palos. The event occurred about a mile below the surface, the USGS reported.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department and the Dos Palos Police Department did not receive any calls related to the mild quake, authorities said.
Mike North, Merced County spokesman, confirmed that there were no reports of damage or injuries to the Office of Emergency Services or the Department of Public Works.
