YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the 55 cabins at the Walnut Acres farm labor camp in Patterson were set to open for occupancy. Ninety-two cabins in Westley were filled and 12 families were on a waiting list for the last eight cabins to open with in-house restrooms. A federal revenue sharing grant of $32,000 helped financed the bathrooms for Empire and the other two towns.
