25 YEARS AGO: Tuolumne County supervisors were to consider an ordinance banning animal sacrifices. In October of the previous year, the Humane Societo warned people to beware of people looking for black cats to sacrifice. The push for the ordinance came from Marlene Ingham, a Sonora resident who persuaded Supervisor Larry Rotelli to introduce the ordinance. The ordinance made it a misdemeanor to either participate in animal sacrifices or to knowingly sell an animal that would be used in one.
