What: US Too Prostate Cancer Support Group

Info: Us Too Prostate Cancer Support Group invites the public, those suffering from the disease and caregivers to its next support group. Us Too will have guest speakers Sandy Howell and Al Lucchesi of HICAP, they will review health insurance policy changes and options for the 2018 open enrollment period. Howell and Lucchesi will counsel guests on scams to steal money and confidential data from seniors. Us Too offers men and their families a wide range of knowledge on prostate disease and tools for rebuilding a satisfying life after cancer. Following the program, the group breaks into men's and women's groups, and stories and perspectives. The group ends with snacks and socializing. What: Poinsettia Fundraiser

Info: The Parent Resource Center holds its annual fundraiser with foil-wrapped poinsettias in traditional Christmas red. Two sizes are available, 6- and 10- inch, $12 and $30. Orders are taken through Nov. 27 and poinsettias will be available for pick up on Dec. 1. Free local delivery is available for orders of six or more 6-inch plants, and/or any number of 10 inch plants. Info: The Modesto Kiwanis invites the public to its lunch meeting. Each week the club as a new presentation and discussions about upcoming club events. Info: The weekly science solloquium will feature the topic: “Nanotechnology and Bioengineering”.The subject is presented by Alex Martin-Ginnold, engineer, in the Science Community Center, Room 115. The Colloquium series offers one-hour discussions on timely science-related topics, and is free and open to the public. There is a $2 charge for on campus parking without a permit. Info: The 2018 Stanislaus County Commission for Women - Outstanding Women Award. Nominations are currently being accepted for Outstanding Women including the categories of Women of History, Living Pioneers and Young Women (high school seniors to age 24 which includes a cash scholarship). Nominating women who have made a meaningful contribution to the quality of life for all women and children; began an important program or took on a challenging cause; first to achieve a significant accomplishment in her field, has been an inspirational role model and a women representative in government who stands up for the issues of women and children. Nomination forms are available via email at sccw01@gmail.com or can be downloaded at www.StanislausWomen.org or can be obtained at all Stanislaus County Libraries. Nominations must be postmarked or arrive by email no later than Jan. 12, 2018. Awards will be presented on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The Stanislaus County Commission for Women is an independent, non-governmental organization to promote within the community an awareness of issues that concern women.

What: Junkyard Christmas 2

Info: The Center for Urban Performance and Service and Westside Ministries present, Junkyard Christmas 2, an original full length dramatic dance production. The cast of over 130 dancers will move to contemporary Christmas favorites, hip hop, and gospel music. Tickets are a $10 suggested donation and can be purchased at the event one hour prior to show time, or at the ministry in advance.
