Two Turlock residents were killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash east of Knights Ferry late Sunday, according to the Sonora-area California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 11:13 p.m. on Highway 120 west of Rushing Hill Lookout Road, an area also known as "the rock shop," the CHP reported.
A 59-year-old woman was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang east at a speed unsafe for the wet road surface, the CHP said. She lost control of her car and ran off the north edge of the roadway into the center median, where the Mustang began to roll.
It continued rolling until it struck an outcropping of rocks and a tree. The car came to rest on its roof, and the driver and her 55-year-old male passenger both suffered fatal injuries.
