Turkey Trotters aim to work off some of that Thanksgiving dinner

Hundreds of people —including those in tutus and turkey hats — converged on Tuolumne River Regional Park Thursday morning in an attempt to run off some of the damage they would do later at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

For the 17th year, the Modesto Junior College athletic department hosted its popular Turkey Trot, Gobbler Walk and Kids Run.

Proceeds from the run fund MJC’s track and field and cross country programs.

But in case you were wondering: an average 150-pound person burns off about 350 calories running a 5K. That’s about the same amount as in a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream.
