Modesto man killed in crash near Vernalis
A Modesto man died in a crash on Highway 132 near Vernalis early Wednesday morning.
At about 4 a.m., Bobby Young, 54, was driving a Honda westbound on 132 near Kasson Road at an unknown speed when the vehicle drifted to the right side of the road onto the north shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Honda hit a metal sign and a wooden post and continued to travel west. It stopped when it hit a metal traffic signal pole at the intersection of 132 and Kasson, according to the CHP.
Young was not wearing a seat belt and it appeared the Honda’s airbags had either been removed or deployed in a previous crash, according to the CHP.
Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
