Bicyclist, pedestrian hit by cars in and near downtown Modesto
A bicyclist and a pedestrian were struck by vehicles in and near downtown Modesto in separate incidents Tuesday evening.
Both men suffered minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
The first collision occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in front of the cemeteries on Scenic Drive where a bicyclist rode from the north side of the rode to the south, across all lanes of traffic, and was hit by an eastbound vehicle, said Lt. Aaron Tait.
The man on the bicycle landed on the ground and the driver kept traveling east.
Police are looking for a dark colored SUV associated with the hit-and-run.
About 30 minutes later a security guard who works at Central Valley Specialty Hospital was struck by a vehicle while crossing G Street at 17th Street, Tait said.
He said offices were still trying to determine what happened and whether the security guard was in a crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
There was no immediate information on the condition of the two victims.
