Warmer and clear in Modesto this holiday week, but rain could affect road trips
Whether it's weather to be thankful for is a matter of opinion, but after a week of slightly lower temperatures, highs most days this holiday week will be in the 70s in Modesto.
Monday is expected to be the seventh and last in a stretch of days with highs in the mid- to upper 60s. The day should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 67 degrees and a wind of 5 to 7 mph.
Tuesday through Saturday will be mostly sunny, the National Weather Service forecasts, with highs near 71 Tuesday, 73 Wednesday, and 72 Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) through Saturday.
Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 69.
Though it should be clear and dry in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, the weather service's Sacramento office warned Monday on Facebook that some holiday road travel to areas north of Interstate 80 could be affected by rain from a warm, weak system moving through.
"The first system will move through Nor Cal today (Monday) through tonight, with mainly light rain and high snow levels (above 10,000 feet)," it reported. "Some light showers could linger over Shasta County on Tuesday. A second similar system arrives by early Thanksgiving and continues into Friday. Another system much like the first two could bring some precipitation Saturday into Sunday."
