50 YEARS AGO: The State Highway Commission approved a $550,000 one-way couplet using Jennie and Grand Streets in Modesto for Highway 132. The project was years from being completed, but would have started on the western end of the Yosemite Blvd. widening project and was set to be completed between Las Flores Ave. and Riverside Drive by Dec.1968. When the couplet would have been operational, inbound traffic was to enter a four-lane highway at Riverside Drive.
