Sheriff's Department releases name of woman whose death is under investigation

The woman whose Nov. 7 death in Riverbank is under investigation has been identified by the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department as 26-year-old Silvia Stiles.

The Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated fire departments responded at about 2:35 a.m. that Tuesday to a report of a traumatic injury in the area of Patterson and Claus roads, said Modesto Battalion Chief Darin Jesberg.

"When we got there, there was a young (adult) female on the kitchen floor," he said at the time. Crews performed CPR for 30 minutes but the woman's condition did not improve, he said. She was declared dead at the scene.

There were no obvious wounds, Jesberg said, but "the details around it are suspicious."

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said his department "never said it was suspicious," but the department has released no information on why Stiles' death is being investigated.

A page on the fundraising site gofundme.com shows that Stiles' full name was Silvia Anaika Stiles and that she went by "Ana." She was the mother of two young sons, and comments on Facebook and on gofundme referred to her having "the voice of an angel" and "a voice that lifted all of our spirits."

Stiles had a YouTube channel that includes a few videos of her singing. In a note that accompanies one of her videos, she wrote, "So you'll notice most of my covers will be done in my kitchen lol sorry I'm new at this at it's all I got haha. Also there will be times you (hear my ) boys cheering me on in the back or trying to sing along."
