Modesto celebrates those who’ve served their country
A sunny fall morning and grateful crowds in Modesto greeted those who have served in the armed forces as the city celebrated Veterans Day with a parade through downtown.
After the parade Saturday, a gathering was held at Graceada Park where music was played.
Vietnam veterans Michael Pelucca, Rudy Molina and Basil Amesquita were grand marshals of this year’s Modesto Veterans Day Parade, which ran along on Needham Street and ended at the park.
Along with bands, classic cars, motorcycles, scouts and veterans themselves, city and other government representatives also took part in the celebration, including Modesto Mayor Ted Brandvold and Rep. Jeff Denham, R-Turlock.
