Modesto motorcyclist killed in Highway 99 crash
A motorcyclist died Thursday evening in a crash on Highway 99 in Ceres.
The 34-year-old Modesto resident was northbound near the Hatch Road off ramp at about 5 p.m. when he, for unknown reasons, hit the center divide, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Thomas Olsen.
The man was thrown from the motorcycle, landing in the center divide, and the motorcycle caught fire.
He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Traffic was backed up to Turlock while officers investigated the crash.
