Victim in fatal hit-and-run south of Turlock identified
The 55-year-old Delhi man killed in a hit-and-run crash south of Turlock early Sunday has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner's Office as Gary Bucol.
The collision occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Lander Avenue north of East Clausen Road. Turlock resident Edgardo Reynoso, 23, was southbound in a GMC at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended Bucol, who was thrown from his 2011 SPCN (special construction) motorcycle and hit the roadway.
Two other drivers behind Reynoso were unable to avoid hitting the motorcyclist as he lay in the road. Bucol was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reynoso fled the scene and was later contacted and placed under arrest, according to the California Highway Patrol. He faces charges of voluntary manslaughter and hit-and-run causing injury or death, according to Modesto area CHP spokesman Officer Thomas Olsen.
