40 YEARS AGO: It was reported that Modesto resident Emanuel Galas recieved a post card dated Aug. 21, 1959 with a charge for 10 cents postage due. The post card was from then closed Merritt Plymouth Center for a $9.95 tune-up, available to Plymouths and DeSotos. Postmaster Dan Taylor admitted the charge to deliver a new postcard was only 9 cents and was just as puzzled as Galas to the postage due.
