After a three-year absence, the skies over Don Pedro Reservoir will be aglow in fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.

In 2014, and for the first time in roughly 20 years, the recreation area east of La Grange canceled its show because of the drought and concerns about wildfire. It remained dark the next two years.

This year, thanks to the wet winter, the show will go on. Its “Fireworks Spectacular” will be Sunday, July 2.

The cost is $20 per vehicle. Spectators should arrive by 8 p.m. so they can settle in before the 9:30 p.m. start of the show.

The pyrotechnics will launch from a barge near the Blue Oaks recreation area. Fans can watch from the shore or from boats on the water.

More information is at www.donpedrolake.com or 209-852-2396. The show is one of several in the region on or aroud the Fourth of July.
