What: Annual All-Church Sale

When: Saturday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Where: Centenary Church, McHenry between Norwegian and Tokay avenues

Info: The Centenary Church will be having its all-church sale. It is a one-day, indoor-outdoor sale featuring thousands of items, including home furnishings, small and large appliances, household goods and more. There will also be food booths for the public to enjoy. Proceeds benefit ministries and missions. For more information, call 209-527-5441.

What: Dancing for Dreams Fundraiser

When: Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

Where: King Kennedy Center, 601 S. Martin Luther King Drive

Info: The event helps fund programs directed toward the youth of West Modesto. Tickets are $40 for singles and $75 for two. There will be food, entertainment, music and more. For more information or to purchase a ticket call Lee Ockey 209-531-4500.

What: Nature Blitz

When: Saturday, 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Where: Calaveras Big Tress State Park, 1170 E. Highway 4

Info: The Calaveras Big Tress State Park presents an all day nature exploration of the park led by Nancy E. Muleady-Mecham, Ph.D. In addition to topic presentation, walks and demonstrations, attendees will learn interpretive techniques as well. All walks are classed as “easy,” with the longest a 1.5-mile stroll around the North Grove. The program is free to the public. 75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the contract for the Army hospital in northwest Modesto was awarded to Meyer Construction Company of San Francisco. The company was tasked to build the principal building that would hold 1,500 beds of the general hospital. The contract price was $1.65 million, with constuction begining the following week.
