What: First Academy Summer Day Camp

Info: The First United Methodist Church will be having its first academy summer day camp. The academy will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The academy is an educational program centered on spiritual, academic and physical development for ages Kindergarten through 5th Grade. What: Art Exhibition: “A Mother’s Tears”

Where: Modesto JC - East Campus, 435 College Ave.
Info: The Modesto Junior College Department of Art presents: “A Mother’s Tears” art show featuring the paintings of Susan Levy and dedicated to the memory of her daughter Chandra Levy. The art show is open to the public and can views in the MJC Art Gallery on the East Campus. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and admission is free. A public reception for the artist will be held on Thursday, May 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the MJC Art Gallery and Levy will speak at 6 p.m. The reception is also free of charge. What: Alzheimer's "Preparing for the road ahead"

Where: Sutter Gold Medical Foundation, 1700 Mchenry Ave.
Info: The Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Alzheimer's Association is hosting an event for members and non members. A family member who is caring for someone with Alzheimer's or other dementia might experience hardship with work which can ultimately affect ones pay. Info: The Calaveras Community Band presents a special Memorial Day concert under the direction of conductor Mic Harper. There is no admission charge for the program that will honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces in the past and those currently stationed around the world. What: Veterans Cemetery Monuments and Memorials Committee

Where: Redding Veterans Hall, 1605 Yuba Street
Info: The Northern California Veterans Cemetery Monuments and Memorials Committee will be meeting at the Redding Veterans Hall. The committee will be discussing progress on the Air Force memorial and an Eagle Scout project. For more information contact Thora Chaves at 916-653-2547.
