40 YEARS AGO: Stanislaus State’s baseball team would have the opportunity for its third national championship as it would defend its National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III crown. The Warriors advanced to the Western Regional in Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Stanislaus was the only team in the western half of the United States invited to compete in the 16-team small college event.
