YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: Alarmed at the skyrocketing cost for liability insurance, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors planned to initiate action with neighboring counties to introduce legislation that would lower premiums. Stanislaus’ cost jumped to $390,000 from $200,000 the previous year. This included a 241 percent increase in malpractice insurance for Scenic General Hospital.
