Report: Ex-Ripon resident, former Kern County judge found dead

A former well-respected Kern County judge who grew up in Ripon was found dead in his home just north of Santa Maria.

Clarence Westra Jr., 71, who grew up in Ripon and played basketball at Ripon High School, died Friday from what authorities believe to be natural causes, according to the Bakersfield.com.

Westra grew up on a Ripon dairy farm and would later go on to graduate from law school at UC Davis.

He was currently living in Nipomo.
