Info: The city of Modesto continues its third annual Modesto Rockin’ Holiday on Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Tenth Street Plaza has been given a retro holiday feel. Rockin’ Holiday is free, and photos with Rockin’ Santa and his Rockin’ Elves are free in the Classic Rockin’ Sleigh at the Rockin’ North Pole. Info: Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is seeking volunteers to help communicate the railroading history of the “Movie Railroad” in the Sierra foothills. Those interested are encouraged to attend a volunteer open house in January. Volunteer applications must be submitted by Feb. 6 and a volunteer training program will begin in mid-February. At the open house, prospective volunteers will have the opportunity to meet one on one with park staff and talk with current volunteers to learn about the positions available. Informal tours of the operation will be conducted, and snacks will be served. Info: The Tuolumne County Arts Alliance presents the 30th annual InFocus Photography Competition and Exhibition. Entries are being accepted using the web-based competition management system Smarter Entry. 25 YEARS AGO: The results from the opening rounds of the 54th Modesto Junior College Men’s Basketball Tournament were announced. There were two upsets, Cerritos College defeated No. 3 San Francisco City College, 90-58, and No. 5 Columbia College defeated No. 1 Long Beach City College, 75-70. Host Modesto Junior College (7-8) would make its sixth appearance in the semifinals, of its own tournament, since 1980 as they had to face San Joaquin Delta College in the evening game.
