What: Home Preview Party

Info: The community is invited to preview the transformation of one of Oakdale’s historic churches into a single-family home. Tickets to the open house are $25 and all proceeds go to benefit the Children’s Guardian Home. Refreshments will be served as the public will have the opportunity to explore the renovated interior. What: PJ Party with Santa

Santa will read stories, children will create gingerbread houses and make reindeer ornaments, play Xmas Bingo, and drink hot chocolate. Children are encouraged to come in their pajamas. 40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that at Modesto Junior College-East Campus Library, a scale model of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s new space shuttle rocket was on display. The then-unnamed space shuttle was designed to reduce the amount of space litter left behind when rockets lifting their payloads in space would then become space junk destined to return to Earth as fiery reminders of missions past. The reusable shuttle was slated to go into operation in the 1980s and was on display at the college for a week.
