Turlock resident dies in rollover crash on Highway 99 in Madera

A Turlock resident, identified by the California Highway Patrol only as male, was killed in an early morning crash Tuesday on Highway 99 just north of Madera.

At about 4:50 a.m., the driver was northbound on 99, north of Avenue 18 1/2 , in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro when he drifted onto the east shoulder and down a slight embankment.

The car rolled multiple times and came to rest on its wheels, east of the highway. The driver was wearing a seat belt but suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.

The driver was alone in his vehicle. His identity was not immediately available from the Madera County Coroner’s Office.
