Santa, crafts, music at Sonora Christmas Festival
The Sonora Christmas Festival got underway Friday, the 42nd year for the annual holiday kickoff. The event, held each year on the weekend after Thanksgiving, draws in people from all over California for its crafts, entertainment and festive atmosphere. The festival is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children 13 to 18 years old, $2 for children 6 to 12 years old, and free for those under 6. Parking is $5. For more information, go to www.fireonthemountain.com.
