50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that a San Jose firm specializing in the construction of schools had been given its first directions on the future construction of a junior high school by the Modesto Board of Education. Kal H. Porter, president of Porter and Jensen, visited Modesto to evaluate the site for the city’s planned junior high school on North Riverside Drive. The school was to have a tentative opening date for the 1968-69 school year as stated by then Modesto City Schools Superintendent Dr. Bert C. Corona.
