The commission meets the fourth Monday of each month and is looking for participation from interested veterans and family members who can attend the commission meetings. What: Merced College Chorale Concert

Info: The Merced College Chorale is making its debut as it presents “We Lift Our Voices,” a Christmas holiday choral concert. The concert will consist of traditional holiday songs such as “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Carol of the Bells,” as well as a broad range of more contemporary songs. 50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that a San Jose firm specializing in the construction of schools had been given its first directions on the future construction of a junior high school by the Modesto Board of Education. Kal H. Porter, president of Porter and Jensen, visited Modesto to evaluate the site for the city’s planned junior high school on North Riverside Drive. The school was to have a tentative opening date for the 1968-69 school year as stated by then Modesto City Schools Superintendent Dr. Bert C. Corona.
