Modesto to hear proposal for gas station, convenience store

The Planning Commission will be asked Monday to decide whether a development proposal in north Modesto that includes a convenience store, gas station and car wash follows city land-use policy for that area.

Vivtesh Gill is considering building those facilities as well as a roughly 8,000-square-foot building for stores and a 4,000-square-foot building that could house offices and-or a sit-down restaurant on nearly four acres at the northeast corner of Dale Road and Bangs Avenue.

The project is in an area of the city designated for business park uses, and the question for the commission is whether the gas station, convenience store and car wash are appropriate uses within a business park. City staff is recommending the commission decide that they are.

The proposed development is near the Kaiser Modesto Medical Center. Gill was out of the country and not available for comment.

The commission meets at 6 p.m. in the basement chambers of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
