Knights Ferry held its 53rd annual Pumpkin Roll on Sunday, a post-Halloween tradition that had people of many ages taking part.

Contestants rolled pumpkins on Main Street, except for those 5 and younger, who did it on a tennis court. The winner was the one who got it closest to a chalk line. The event had five age categories each for men and women.

The day once again featured a pancake breakfast and craft fair.

The historic town at Stanislaus County’s eastern edge will be back in the limelight Saturday, when the sixth annual Salmon Festival takes place. This celebration of Stanislaus River fish will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park.
