Foster Farms donates 700 turkeys to food bank
Foster Farms delivered 700 donated turkeys Wednesday to Second Harvest Food Bank, part of an annual Thanksgiving drive.
The charity, which serves low-income people in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties, received the 11,000-plus pounds of turkey at its East Industrial Park Drive warehouse.
It is one of several anti-hunger efforts by the Livingston-based poultry company, which processes its turkey in Turlock. Seven other food banks in California, Oregon and Washington are getting turkeys – a total of about 70,000 holiday meals.
Foster Farms also supports the Food 4 Thought program, which provides groceries for the families of about 800 children who complete after-school activities. The third annual Foster Farms Bowl, a Dec. 28 college football game in Santa Clara, will raise money for people who lack enough to eat.
